Not long ago, we unearthed a relic. Our first digital camera. It’s as big as a box of Cheerios. Heavy as a 12-pack of Play-Doh. But it makes a very satisfying “criiiiiiiich” sound, like an old-school shutter, when you snap a picture. Lollipop is in love.

She totes it around the house, aiming at this and that, pressing the magic silver button. She doesn’t so much care about technique. You know, composition. Focus. That kind of thing. But making the flash go off in Giggles’ eyes is a ton of fun.

My Kid’s a Genius … and Yours?
And she’s come away with some pretty artsy stuff. So I’m pretty sure she’s a prodigy, like one of those kids who can play a Stradivarius at birth. See what you think.

Here are two of my favorite “face” shots, in honor of this week’s You Capture theme.

  1. These are great! I gave my kids our old point-and-shoot, but they busted it in about five minutes, so no prodigal photographers at our house.

  2. Those are fantastic 🙂 We have our old clunker around somewhere… we always planned on giving it to the kids to play with, maybe now’s the time! Thank you for stopping by tonight…

(and nope, no extra bath… just wiped the chocolate dust off and they were on their merry way!)

  3. This looks like a lot of the shots my son takes. Only he also likes to stick the camera two inches from my butt. Not so nice. LOL

  4. Give a kid a camera, and you never know what you are going to get! I love that the age of digital cameras has come. It makes it so much easier to hand over the camera and not worry about cost.

  5. How fun! =^) Kids take some of the best photos.

  6. How funny! Love this. =)

  7. Our boy loves taking pictures. We have an small digital camera that he is allowed to take pictures with. There are lots of out of focus ones, but sometimes he does alright!

  8. Hah fun shots!
My son tries to steal my point and shoot all the time too, and a few times I let him play with it. He managed to get some decent shots! Kids are so much more capable than we often give them credit for.

  9. Such original and natural shots! Kids always come up with interesting things when given the oppurtunity!
