Haiku Friday: What I Want For My Birthday
By Lollipop | Translated into Haiku by Stacia

Anything Barbie.
That fishing game my friend has.
Puzzles. Books. Tutus.

A Tinker Bell dress.
A Snow White dress. A Belle dress.
A white wedding dress.

That girl who smells good
With the cat and lemon friend …
Strawberry Shortcake!

Some of that candy
With peanut butter squished in
And orange wrappers.

A “banilla” cake
With Power Puff Girls on it.
A baby sister.

(At least she didn’t
Ask for a pony. Not yet …
There’s always next year.)

Does your child want a pony … or a baby? What’s the most outlandish request you’ve received? And how do children know about toys they’ve never actually touched or seen on television??

  1. This is a fantastic list. Javi asked for a minivan for his last birthday. We skipped the pony and went straight to a car.

  2. A baby sister? Really? HA! Too funny.

I think the only thing I’ve managed to get out of Emily for any of her birthdays (all two of them) has been “cookie!!” Well, it’s a cookie she’ll have then!

  3. Thankfully, my little one is too young to ask, so she has no choice but to like what we give her. She turns two in less than a month and I wish I had something elaborate planned for her like last year, for her first, but I figured this will probably be the last year for me to get away with a party that requires minimal pomp and circumstance since she doesn’t even know what a birthday is, I might as well take advantage of it! 🙂

  4. This kind of makes me long for a girl!

  5. i like that candy with peanut butter squished in orange wrappers too. 🙂

  6. Mr3’s list for Santa is at about 300 pages now. He wants everything he sees. He wants things he’s never seen. They always know.

  7. My daughter loves kit kat candy bars. Will have them morning, noon and night.
