“Someone told me it’s all happening at the zoo.” — Paul Simon

When’s the last time your family went to the zoo? What animal was the biggest hit? And wouldn’t you just love to lounge around like these kangaroos?

  1. Cool picture – I had to do a double-take!

My city’s library is just a couple blocks from our house and every year my mom buys us a membership so we get in free. It’s the greatest because then we don’t feel obligated to make a big deal out of it and spend the whole day – sometimes we just stop in to say hi to the monkeys. They’re my favorite! I also love the giraffes – we don’t have any at our zoo, but I think they are so gorgeous!

  2. Ooo! What an awesome picture! We went to the zoo a couple months ago and fell in love with … the ostriches. Those are seriously cool. : )

  3. I do believe it, I do believe it’s true.

  4. Beautiful song and pretty animals. 😉 It’s been a long time since we’ve been to the Zoo last – it’s quite expensive over here. I am, however, considering getting a yearly ticket for all of us, as it’s much cheaper in comparison and our Bean loves to look at all the animals. Last time, she liked elephants best 🙂

  5. We head to the zoo as often as we can. My children all adore animals and we have such a wonderful time every time. x

  6. Really cool pic. We’re monkey people.

  7. I love this picture! Very nicely done.
Our family last visited the zoo in April 2009 and your post reminds me that I’d very much like for us to go back. Thanks for that.
Our favorites were the gorillas and the baboons. My then 3-year-old was fascinated, announcing to the onlookers in wonder that “it’s a rainbow – he has a rainbow bottom!”

  8. It has been awhile. I think we were there in March (before I got knocked up) for a birthday party, and it was fun. Kate loved the bats (which: ick), and the zebra is always a hit for some reason. Our zoo requires stamina, which has been in short supply for me this year!

  9. Great picture! Before Little Miss, I can’t remember the last time I was at the zoo. Ever since she came along, it’s been once every couple of months? While I’m not a fan of “caged animals” so to speak, I also know that some of these zoos are doing really good things with these animals, esp with research, so I try to live a little and enjoy the zoo through my daughter’s eyes. And that makes ANYTHING enjoyable 🙂

  10. Love the hues, shadows and sentiment of this picture. My daughter loves elephants so much that we usually end up watching them for a hour. I have to convince her to visit other animals at the zoo.

  11. This is a lovely picture!
    Kangaroos how cool 🙂

  12. Great picture! I will admit, it’s been some time since we’ve been to the zoo, or even the aquarium. It’s always wonderful watching animals. And more so, watching kids watch animals.

  13. Very cute! Love the shadow family :).

  14. Our trip to the Dallas zoo this weekend was our first (with Jack). For me, the penguins and otters are unbeatable. For the boy, as you know, it’s the giraffes. And my husband wants to soak it all up so much that we kept losing him.

  15. We haven’t gone with both boys yet. The youngest was just a bean in my tummy when we did. It’s in the works for next spring though!

    And your photo!!!!

  16. We went to a small zoo on our last family holiday. White lions. Need I say more?

  17. PS: Love the kangaroos!

  18. We went to the zoo last month! I love the zoo. Elephants are my favorite. They are so freaking cool. Did you know that when elephants come across elephant bones they stop and check them over with their trunks, kind of hugging via trunk if you will. They do that with no other bones. I think that’s amazing.
