Haiku Friday: His Fair Share

He won’t share his cars
or french fries or magic seeds
or sometimes his hugs.

He won’t share the book
about Bill’s dump truck or the
Sparkly dinosaur.

He won’t share pennies
or the hole puncher or rocks
or roly polies.

But broccoli and peas
and sneezes and fevers? These
are given freely.

What are your children eager to share? What are you eager to return? And are you in the throes of a summer cold, too?

  1. We have escaped the colds so far but allergies? ewwww!

  2. Lots of Vicks and Flonase over here, but thankfully only for those under 8. Feel better soon!

  3. Cute! The one thing that is both flattering and annoying is that my son still does not like to share mom…

I keep feeling like we’re on the verge of something…I know it’s been going around. Hope you all feel better soon!

  4. When my kids were little they fought over dishes at the breakfast table. Who got the pink cup. That’s when I knew it wasn’t about the stuff, it was just because kids needs to tangle. The more I got out of their way, the better. That was challenging for me. I liked being all tangled up with them. 🙂

Now, at 16 and 20, they share a great deal, including plenty they don’t want their mother to know about. Sibling secrets are comforting to me to because they each have this wonderful person who knows them so well, who understands their history and the cloth from which they are cut.

I’m going to far as to say it was worth all the tangles early on. But then…that’s easy now. They are a thing of the past.

  5. Sweet. 🙂
    Feel better soon.

  6. So hard to answer this one because my boy is all grown up. Luckily, they do get better as they get older.

  7. My big boy will share hesitantly….my little one will freely give up anything to anyone he loves.
Needless to say, this dynamic causes drama!

  8. Precious! Hoping we don’t catch any fall colds. Kiddos share nicely most of the time!

  9. gorgeous photos of a day with your children!
